modern gods

this is an interesting thing that was brought up between my friends and i at lunch today: what is the difference between a celebrity and a god?
take for example, miley cyrus. its all right, i don't like her any better than you do. i mean, as far as you and i know, miley cyrus could not exist at all. we believe in her because we've seen her on tv and looked at pictures of her. little girls feel that if they met her, she would be kind and sweet and give them a hug. people have opinions of her even though they don't know what she's really like on the inside. people basically worship her. they don't process in their brains that shes a real person. even i can't process the idea that she has feelings and a personality and that sort of thing.
you know what? the ancient gods could have been real people. there really could have been people who lived on mount olympus and stuff. sure, most of the things that are written about them aren't true, but they didn't have photography back then. maybe the gods were just celebrities. its possible. its also possible that celebrities are gods, depending on your definition of "god".

i know that miley cyrus is fake and that the person playing her has her own name and life that I do not know of. I just hate the fact that this human, takes on the roll of this character, and all of a sudden, girls between 8 and 14 all over the country worship her. Lives that they could have had, artists lost, because they were too busy worshiping a kid pretending to be a fictional character.
