i went to services at saint john the divine tonight. it was strange. i love what they do; candles in the darkness, beautiful colored glass and art, angel-sound singing, talking about love and peace and brotherhood. and i wondered as i sat there, why can't religion always be like this? why do we fight over inner peace? why do the people who say that they are the most spiritual advocate killing things? what has become of what used to be magical? where did the beauty go from western religion?
it was a beautiful service. i wish it were true, though.
